Are overhead dumbbell extensions the worst triceps exercise to include in your arm workouts? I’d say that’s an exaggeration, however it is true that this is not optimal when it comes to your triceps workouts. That’s because the optimal path for the triceps is to extend away from the midline of the body whereas with this arm exercise the weight is moving in a straight vertical line. If you want to build bigger triceps (and bigger arms in general), this is best done with a single dumbbell or a cable. All of these variations will work to build triceps muscle, but the latter two would be optimal.
